Saturday 12th July 2008

The President and members of The Rotary Club of Cumbernauld rolled their sleeves up and completed the first of three phases of work to improve the environment around St. Maurice’s Pond in Cumbernauld.

Saturday’s efforts saw the pruning of trees to improve safety, the clearing of overgrown path verges and the removal of bottles, bags, traffic cones and even a wheel barrow from the Pond itself.

Club President Alex Mearns said “this is a great opportunity for Rotary to work in partnership with colleagues in North Lanarkshire Council and to be involved in activities which will benefit the whole community. We are looking forward to the next phase of this worthwhile initiative and I hope that next time someone remembers to bring the coffee!!!!”
