2nd April 2008   RYLA Candidates and parents visit Club

As part of the successful partnership between The Rotary Club of Cumbernauld and Abronhill High School senior pupils Vhari Ingleston and Amanda Crichton have been selected to attend the 2008 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp at Ardeonaig on the shores of Loch Tay in July. Pictured here with their parents at a meeting of the Rotary Club in its new home at Dullatur Golf Club Vhari and Amanda were selected because of their potential for development as future community or business leaders.

The camp will challenge the girls both physically and mentally and in addition to building self confidence will also enable them to learn more about their own capabilities. Commenting on the scheme Past President Frank Clark said “we are grateful to our friends at Abronhill High School for again identifying such high calibre delegates – having met with the girls I am confident that they will both derive the maximum benefit from their participation in what I know is a challenging but rewarding experience.   This is the third year in which we have collaborated with the school and the feedback from pupils who have taken part has been excellent. We are also happy to see the school taking part in our annual Walk Across Scotland where they have raised generous sums of money in support of Cumbernauld’s own Strathcarron Hospice. “
